Exploring Diablo 4 Season 8: Belial’s Return and Its New Mechanics

Diablo 4’s current Season 8, named Belial’s Return, brings exciting new gameplay elements and fresh challenges for fans.

The centerpiece of the season is the introduction of Boss Powers. These abilities are derived from the bosses players defeat throughout the game and can be equipped to customize and enhance character builds. Boss Powers offer a main ability and various modifiers, allowing for deep strategic choices and versatility in combat.

Additionally, the Lair Boss system has been revamped. Now, bosses are tiered into Initiate, Greater, and Exalted categories. Players must reach at least Torment Difficulty I to participate in these fights, adding an extra layer of endgame progression. Defeating these Lair Bosses yields valuable Diablo 4 Items in the form of Hoards, which require special keys to open, incentivizing continued play.

Belial-themed events called Apparition Incursions also make their debut. These events pit players against illusions of Belial’s minions, testing skill and teamwork while rewarding participation with reputation points and unique items.

Season 8 also features a collaboration with the iconic manga Berserk, offering themed cosmetics, outfits, and pets, including a grotesque new pet called Iris. The seasonal journey awards this unique pet upon completion, adding flavor and collectability for players.
