The Kobe Gold Edition and The Take-Two Case in NBA 2K17

NBA 2K17 inches closer to its official public launching in September. With barely two months left prior to its much awaited release, publisher 2K Sports has begun to roll out the hallmark features fans can expect from this year’s iteration of the series.

Meanwhile, should fans to pre-order for NBA 2K17, the Kobe Gold Edition will come with three Free Agent Cards. 2K also tweeted the redesigned look at the new card designs for MyTEAM via the game’s official Twitter page.

In more news, the NBA 2K16 Tattoo lawsuit against Take-Two Interactive was dismissed on Tuesday. Plaintiff Solid Oak Sketches LLC sued the company for $150,000 worth of damages for every copyright infringement over its tattoo designs of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and other NBA players.

The said lawsuit would have potentially cost Take-Two billions of cash in theoretical amount of damages. However, the legal battle seems not over just yet. Solid Oak can still go after actual damages over eight tattoo designs which appeared in last year’s title and not duly authorized by the artists.

Darren Heitner, legal counsel for Solid Oak further confirmed this in his interview. As per Reuters, “The case will proceed, and we look forward to explaining why we are entitled to actual damages.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, NBA 2K17 arrives September 20 on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Similar to NBA 2K16, a mobile companion app for this year’s title is also expected for release.
